Small Town People with Big Influence

Over the past few years in Toronto, I have noted the differences in my lives and those of my friends and family who remain "Kincardiner's or Bruce County." There are many differences but of those differences I will note that although we chose different paths we have all experienced struggle and success. When I think of how my life changed, I realized that I did not change so much as my environment did. I find over the years I have really struggled like a fish out of water. In Toronto, the people although intelligent enough and nice enough, are very career focussed and focussed on being picture perfect. Many of the people that I have encountered spend a lot of time remaining optimistic that they will attain a perfect weight, perfect health, perfect parenting, perfect work ethic and results. You never really hear anyone say they are comfortable, satisfied or really truly happy. Most of the population is looking for bigger and better and although they would find it hard to admit it they would find the other half of the population somewhat repulsive, a joke, uncomprehendable. I am not saying that this is everyone, but when you live day to day in my world you will see it. I note that over the time I have spent in Toronto, I have seen more dicotomous views and overt racism than I have ever seen before. In Kincardine, a person could have extreme faults of character but have function within the group and acceptance.. In Toronto, the reality is that many (not all) but many, and you know who you are, who only accept that dicotomy and racism with never go away. In my view I cannot and will not accept that.... Example: You might be a lawyer or doctor.... are you special because of that.... do you deserve special priveledge in the community because of that, is your opinion the only one that matters because of what you do . Let's face it we as a society have given people with money, power and titles our attention, our voice and our awww.. Not to say their are a lot of people who do not deserve it. Yes many of them do but they don;t deserve it anymore that the women or man you makes your large tim hortons double double everyday. Cause the truth is without a lawyer you could likely get by in jail and without a Dr. many people would live anyways but without your coffee you could not make it through the day? Sick isn't it... Yes my mind is full of so many thoughts and I am using this forum to get them all down to decide what to do with them...

April 25, 2009

Today, I started to Twitter... Or I became a twitterer... which doesn't really sound all that nice. we ( MY SON AND I) went to the museum. Whe went on the subway and sat beside a lady who had her eyes closed and Aiden out loud said to her " you are a sleepy head" luckily the women laughed and he had everyone chuckling around us. I must find him a drama class. He would be the best little actor.... except he only acts when you don't want him to. lol
